games TM 97

Eeee, looks like there's a glut of great games on the horizon: Dead Space 2, Red Faction: Armageddon, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Okamiden, GoW: Ghost of Sparta, FEAR 3...

The special feature on adult games was interesting...sounds like with the Teletouch technology they're on about, game lobbies could become mass orgies with shirts that react to the hands of other people etc. Bone Town doesn't look too stunning. As for an explicit Xbox game, there's enough money floating around porn, someone should go ahead and do it.

In the Retro section, the guy who did a lot of the music for Psygnosis is releasing updated versions of some game tunes he did to celebrate Psygnosis's 25th anniversary on July 3rd. www.coldstorage.org.uk

Just picked this up via iPhone app (cheaper than a subscription and pretty artwork up close ftw). Am looking forward to reading the porn game article, it'll be fascinating to see if there's any kind of 'artistic' justification, or if they're all 'hur hur gamerz like teh fake sex and we can make monie'.

Wow, that sex in videogames article sucked. The writer was annoyed that the media didn't understand the sex scenes in Mass Effect, but was snippy and rude about the the guys who were making sex-based games...the comment about 'BoneTown' being a delightfully subtle name (or some such judgement) was sneering in the extreme. There was no examples of when games have done sex right, nor were there any discussions of any kind of actual game...it was mostly just social networking that is exclusively dedicated to special hugs. *We* had a more mature discussion about it on the forum, and that's going some.

And the comment about 'well, they would think that' when the two guys stated they believed the sex game market would open up was just ridiculous. If they'd offered a little commentary on why they disagreed, then fine, but as it was they were just very judgemental and 'we're too grown up for this'. Really poor showing, GTM.

edit: You know what, I'm so annoyed about it, I'm going to write them an EMAIL. That'll show 'em.

I think i'll avoid that article as it'll piss me off. Although your response to it is remarkably comical!

Eee, you could have a rant in their forum feedback section :) : http://www.gamestm.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15720

Sheesh, I haven't been on the gtm forum since it went down and this place rose from the ashes. Does everyone here still post there?

I think a few still do but the people like me who are too lazy to maintain to visit 2 forums don't bother. I stopped visiting like 4 or 5 years ago when the whole thing crashed and this place started up i think? Though didn't join here straight away.

A couple of weeks ago I posted on GTM for the first time in about a year. I take notions sometimes, but I have to be pretty bored to post there to be honest. It's only here and Retrogamer that I regularly post on. Basically since the magazine turned into Edge-lite, I've just not been feeling the whole GTM vibe at all, mag or forum.

I remember when a certain staff member admitted to me that this was the entire point.

I bought GTM for the first time in about a year this month. There's a nice amount to read, it's just not that interesting/humorous/informative/thought-provoking/worth saying/enthusiastic/charming... But other than that it does well in the bog.

Yeah, I hate in when I order a Horse and it arrives after I needed it too.

I still have my gTM sub, can't believe it's been going 100 months, that's about the same amount of time I'd been "back" into current gaming.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I'd be interested in how their circulation changed at that time, I know I hated the fact that it went from the slightly irreverant funny charm to boredom.

The only reason I bought it was that it made me laugh and the issues looked fantastic. Then they took out the funny and made it dull, and made the whole thing look like a shit website. Posting over there's alright but there are a lot of dickheads, so I generally don't bother.

\late. I still buy this mag and still like it although they do try and copy Edge as Smurph says. Retro section is so cool but I do wish that ex Atari guy would stop going on about how much drugs he used to take working there, we get it already, you were an idiot!!!Don't bother with their Forum though is it's you lot that own me and my delusions.

I got turned off the ex Atari guy on his first column. I think it was frothing at the mouth about how ET wasn't actually that bad and it was just misunderstood.

Waiting to see if my letter got into issue 98, if the bloody app will let me download it *shakes fist*
