2021 Game Completion Thread

Tomb Raider-DE-PS4(on 5)- This is still a great game, it's the 3rd time I've finished it since its release 8 years ago. I still can't be arsed with the challenges or multiplayer but I did everything else. I think I paid £2.69 for this. Ridiculous money!

Mass Effect Remastered - I enjoyed it and don’t consider it to have aged too badly at all.  It was bit of a slog to start because the pacing is very slow, but it gets going and the storytelling is great still. Combat is basic but enjoyable enough, very easy though as it doesn’t take long to have all the money you need to buy the best gear. Also didn’t use perks at all really, cos the guns are good enough on their own.  Looking forward to ME2, I remember the step being very enjoyable.

DOOM Eternal - BoneX

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Modern Warfare - BoneX

Superliminal-Series X-A mind bending puzzle game that's in the vein of Portal, but doesn't rely on it. It's not overly hard but I did have to look up one puzzle that was really early on. I'd already found the solution but it hadn't quite hit where it should have, I wasted a lot of time on that but GRRRR! Great game other wise, on gamepass give it a look.

It's been a while, and I've been busy.
Loved all of these games for pretty different reasons, but all of them were pretty great for decompressing for a hard day.

Dishono(u)red-PS4-Wow. Wow. Wow. I finished this back when it was released but I never got the full experience as I just put runes all over the place, never really specialising. I enjoyed it so much more this time, deciding early on to go for low chaos and speccing in that direction by having stop time and the vision fully levelled so I could really see what was going on. It was so much fun stopping time if I got caught and running behind them so they didn't have a clue where I'd gone(then choking those fools!) I've gone straight into the dlc, which I've never played before. Enjoying it so far.

Halo 5 (XSX)

Finally finished this having stopped at the same point as I did the other 2 times I tried to get through it.

So distinctly average in every way. Another linear CoD style campaign with a story that was far from compelling. No wonder I got bored and gave up. Add this to the pile of Halo games I’ll never replay alongside 2 and 4.

Ghost of Sushi-PS4 on PS5- This is a great game, it looks amazing even though I didn't upgrade to the PS5 version. The combat is brilliant, and you really have to utilise the different stances when you have a group of different types of enemies on you. The only downside is the lack of variety in the bog standard side missions, which is fine if you're not going for the platinum, but if you are it becomes a bit of a slog. Platinum get! :)

Last Stop-Series X/Game Pass- Loved this little gem of a game. It's 3 separate stories about 4 people in London. You don't really do much apart from choose some dialogue options but the story really goes places. It's pretty short, it took me a little over 6 hours and was the perfect palate cleanser after the epic Ghost of Sushi. Game Pass FTW! again.

DARQ - POC

Got this as a freebie from Epic and loved every second of it, really clever puzzles, creepy atmosphere and easy to jump into. Really short but the Epic version had all the dlc so going to go through that.

Mass Effect 2 Remastered - BoneX

This really hasn’t aged in my book, it took a bit of getting used to after playing ME but it really was an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Pacing is perfect and the game itself is a bit more challenging than the original. Big recommend from me, looks awesome in 4K too! On to 3 next!

Awesome, glad you are enjoying it. Think I will continue with this after a go through 20 years of Halo games. Did you play much of the DLC in 3? I hadn't and so a decent amount felt brand new. Also, and I think I said this at the time when I I replayed 3 for the first time since release, after playing all 3 in quick succession, 3 was my favorite. There are loads of epic moments but one fight with a reaper that was so fucking good that I was sad when I beat it because I knew I wouldn't play through the series again in ages (because... lots to play and... life), so went back and reloaded my save 3 or 4 times (this was before the remaster was announced).

The remaster is awesome. What’s funny is that I remembered loads of ME1 when I did it but I hardly remembered anything from ME2 so it was like playing it for the first time (could be that lots was DLC that I didn’t do). I didn’t do any of the DLC from 3 so really looking forward to starting that tonight. I don’t think I’ll do Andromeda again just yet as it’s not really linked and I’m looking forward to hitting Halo before I start Infinite - which probably won’t happen as ME3 will take a while!
