Yeah playing Days Gone and the guy is either really subdued or a fucking maniac.

SMW2:Yoshis Island-SNES/Switch- Meh. It was ok. It looks lovely but I found most of the levels uninspiring and the music is not a patch on the original.  Glad I've finished it but I can't see me playing it again.

Never played it either. I remember the reception being pretty flat at the time.

No it got pretty good reviews. I was reading a Retro Gamer article on the making of it. Even Edge gave it a good score!

Ghostbusters:Remastered-PS4- It was always a little bit janky when it first came out. Still has the same amount of jank except it looks prettier. A solid B game with a frustrating last level difficulty spike about 3/4 through it. Apart from that part, Bustin' made me feel good.

You talking about the bit when you have to guard the gate? Mental hard that.

Bust open the gate with the cherubs. I don't remember it being that hard, maybe I'd just scrubbed it from my memory because this time round it must have taken over 20 attempts...

Theseus-PSVR- Basically a 3rd person walking simulator with mild platforming and combat. Without the VR it would have been ok, with the VR and the scale of the labyrinth and Minotaur it upped it to good. Worth a couple of hours of anyones time. I think I paid £5 for it. Well worth it for that.

CoD WW2 (PS4)

Standard CoD campaign. It was fun, like a greatest hits of WW2 campaign, and didn’t outstay it’s welcome. Fun for a weekend, especially as it’s on PS Plus right now. Won’t be going near multiplayer so no idea how that is.

Astro Bot-PSVR- Fuck me! What a game. It's inventive, whimsical and just downright Joyful. Each world gets more and more inventive with its design and bosses. Definitely the best game I've played in VR. Amazing stuff.

Dawn of War: Soulstorm (PC) - Not sure why I’ve decided to play these games from the pile-o-shame but I have and now they’re done! Interesting new races for Soulstorm but the game itself is not as challenging or interesting as DC, mainly because the AI just doesn’t do anything on the world map.

Still hopefully I can move on now! Still not sure where to should buy DoW3 - reviews are just too mixed and I don’t know if I like the idea of overpowered bosses and weak armies.

Wonderboy 3-Megadrive/PS4- Well that was shit. I played it through in VR and while the first few levels were fun enough from about the halfway point to the end I had to keep using the rewind function due to so much bullshit. I doubt many people finished it back in the day.

For Yussry:

Metro Exodus-Bone- This is a great game, by far the best Metro game. It's not without faults, it mainly falls down with navigation in the open areas, which wasn't a problem in the other games since they were fairly linear.Something I hope they'll sort out for the next one to make it clearer where to go next.

This game has levels that are contained open worlds and you can pretty much go anywhere. The only other problem I had was Artyom sometimes felt a bit too big for the area I was trying to navigate, so it became a bit clumsy at times.  The games a looker though and the story is great, well worth a playthrough.

Shadow of The Tomb Raider (Bone) -  took me well over a year I think. Mainly because it’s so big and I did 100% as I played it (even though it didn’t register cos of some gash bug). Not as good as the first but better than the second, also the best looking game I’ve ever played on the OneX. Locations were epic and tombs required some good thinking but combat was clumsy and lost count of the amount of times I died because the animation worked wrong for a jump or something.

Epic game though and well worth the money despite the flaws.

Ratchet & Clank(Reboot)-PS4-Just what I needed after the oppressiveness of Metro. A fun platformer with primary colours galore! I've loved these games since Tools of Destruction on PS3, I missed out on the PS2 era games for whatever reason. Anyway this is a lot of fun, zany weapons and some fun but not too taxing platforming and puzzles make this a game well worth playing.

Phantasy Star Online 2 - Episode 1 Story Mode

So... much... story...

Rather than have the story naturally play out as you enjoy the game, Sega makes you sit through what feels like a thousand little 2 minute long story skits with a few battles thrown in for good measure. It took me maybe 6 hours to get through them all in between just playing the game normally. The rewards are worth doing if you are into the cosmetic side as you get a free weapon skin and loads of star gems (one of the premium currencies) thrown at you, but if not, then save your time and just play the game.

There's two more episodes worth of story to get through and episode 4 is coming out soon... I dont think I can sit through this shit any more...

Game is good though!

Shenmue-PS4-Furlough Platinum number 4- I still love this.I beat it back in the day twice. It's dated as fuck in so many respects, but it took chances and I think helped to shape todays games in a lot of ways. The worst I can say about it is the final boss battle is not exciting in any way shape or form, more a war of attrition. Something that has been changed for the better over the years.

I was pretty close to the end back in September 2018 and my last trophy was 3/9/18. I was really enjoying it then Forsaken for Destiny 2 released on the 4th( I just had to look that up as I couldn't think why I'd dropped it!) so Fuck Destiny 2 even more :) Anyway I have 2 and 3 waiting in the wings. I may got straight into them as I seem to be into completing trilogies this year.

The Last of Us Part 2 (PS4)

Finished this last week. I successfully managed to avoid any of the leaks and spoilers for this, so I won’t mention any here.

Graphics, sound and animation are outstanding. The core gameplay is very good, better than the first. I mostly played it stealthily but you can go all action at points too. You can even adjust AI and resources in the options to how you want it, even turn it into pseudo-Gears of War. Really nice to have the choice.

I enjoyed the story, it was very clever and well done and if you take the time with it you can really appreciate what they were getting at. It doesn’t have a straightforward linear story like the first game, which may be partly why some people hate it.

My only issues are that it can feel very long, especially when you get into the second half, but it feels necessary because of plot points. I also found some of the violence quite jarring, although it makes sense being in an apocalypse. Definitely recommended to play it, unless you hate LGBT characters/plots or are not in the mood for thinking a bit deeper with story, or if you can’t deal with a pretty bleak atmosphere.

8/10

Shenmue (PS4)

Got the platinum, like Wayne. Never played it before, unlike Wayne. A nice change of pace after Last of Us 2. I played Shenmue 2 ages ago on XB, so it was familiar yet different. Going to play 2 next, possibly 3 as well before Ghost of Tsushima.

Shenmue 2-PS4-Platinum 6 of Furlough time yay?- Unlike Yussry I'd never finished this one...This was great story wise, although in retrospect not much happens, you just do a lot to get  the story beats. However so much is set up for the multiple sequels that may happen now thanks to Shenmue 3...

Yet it's a cunt of a game. So much bullshit. The QTES have no rules in this game, you think you're done? You're not fuck you back to the beginning you go

You think you fucked it, oh no you didn't, you get another chance because reasons.. You fight a boss in free battle, with 2 QTES, you win the first round, pass the first QTE and fuck him over and then win the 2nd round but then fail the QTE? Back to the beginning of the first round for you, but not before a cut scene that thankfully you can skip . So fuck this game.... except for the first third and last 10%... the rest can do one...

Death Stranding (PS4) - 2019 - 5/5
What Remains of Edith Finch (XB1) - 2017 - 4/5
Resident Evil 5 - Co-op (360 on XB1) - 2009 - 2/5
Resident Evil 3 Remake (XB1) - 2020 - 4/5
Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) - 2020 - 5/5
Final Fantasy VII (PSX on PS4) - 1997 - 4/5

Last of Us: Part II (PS4) - 2020 - 4/5
Brutal, and a bit overlong, but otherwise loved this as a continuation and refining of what made the original so great. The characters are great, and the improvements to the game mechanics and combat especially are fantastic. It's also stupidly gorgeous, and I ended up buying some concept art to go on my wall :D

Had a few things on the go before I started Last of Us, but lost interest in finishing them up. Probably time to revisit some before I get pulled into Ghosts of Tsushima!

Wolfenstein YoungBlood-PS4 This is great fun, it's one of those 7/10 games that just keeps giving. The story isn't as mental as the mainline games, but it's the co-op and the gunplay that makes it so good. Once you start opening up more powers and levelling up the guns enemies that were ridiculously hard before get taken down in 4 shots!

Will be going back tomorrow to mop up a few side missions and find a few stray collectables. Played it in co-op all the way through and that might have elevated it to 8/10 but I was playing with Jimmy ;)

It's on Game Pass too so give it a go if you like Wolfenstein or co-op games.
