SNES Mini confirmed

Recommended Posts

70 RRP aren't they? Think that's what my preorder with Ninty is.

Some places were, others like Tesco were £79.99. My Amazon order is £69.99. I was going to try and swap the 2nd for a NES mini but since they're releasing more of those I figured let it go back in to circulation rather than scalp it.

Yes please for now. If anything changes I'll let you know.

So far so good, how would you like me to ship this when it arrives? Could get it to a post office and send Special Delivery for next day, or First/Second class? I'm guessing Special Delivery will be something like £7-8 quid, 1st £5 and 2nd £4?

I don't think next day will be especially necessary. I'd be happy with second class as long as the insurance they provide covers it.

Edit: If it is only a couple of quid difference then go with the fastest.

Nintendo Store came through for me! Got an email to advise that payment failed and was able to change it. It has now been dispatched!

Bob, I do still want your spare. Got a couple of friends who couldn't get one that I can pass it on to. Let me know how it goes and when I need to pay you.

I'll PM you my paypal address. I bloody love that you can just buy postage online now, it's even fully integrated in to ebay so you don't have to mess around in the post office.

Go with 1st class signed for. Cheaper than I thought. I take it you have the Snes in hand already?

Edit: Nevermind, just replied to your PM.

They look awesome on the big screen, even without CRT filter.

Mario Kart at 60HZ is a revelation. All the muscle memory of the tracks is gone just because of the extra speed. It's like a new game to learn...

Contra is still rock hard!

I bought one yesterday on Amazon Prime Now, just on the spur of the moment, and got it by lunch time.

It's a fun little thing to have sitting under the tv, and play around with. Apparently the internals are near identical to the NES classic, so I expect people will br able to hack it and add extra games pretty soon.

Hey, you can put nearly any game on it now!

Super easy.

Bad news for Smurph: Unirally doesn't work properly. I think you can just stick RetroArch on it for problem games though you won't have the swanky savestate interface. https://github.com/ClusterM/retroarch-clover/releases

I did mine last night. Less than 10 minutes and I was up and running :)

I panicked a bit when I was flashing as it took over twice as long to flash the kernel as it did to dump it!

Put 20 odd games on there to try. Used the list to make sure they were all working roms before going ahead.

Will be taking Doom off next time I hook it up. I put it on as I'd never played the SNES version. Back in the day I'm sure it was a technical marvel. Now it's a choppy blurry mess.

Retroarch works a treat for games that aren't compatible. Pretty seamless too, initial load of games that use it is a little longer and so is resetting, but it still supports savestates etc.

I got the fan translation of Fire Emblem 4 working on it yesterday.

If you didn't know already, Hakchi also adds a shortcut for getting back to the menu without hitting reset, it's Down+Select.

I knew about L R SELECT and START to reset. Didn't know about the other.

I'll look at adding RetroArch at some point. More than enough to be getting on with though :)

What is the point in buying one of these and hacking it instead of a Pi? Surely cheaper and easier?

My thoughts exactly

I love how the same people who (not here necessarily before anyone gets defensive) laud the Switch for its portability have shelled out 80 odd quid for a TV box that does what a basic android phone and an 8bitdo pad does portable and with screen share on most TV's ;)
