Ghost Recon Wildlands

Downloading the PS4 beta now. Will post impressions when I start it.

I have 3 extra keys for PS4. I'll need to add you as Ubi Club friends to be able to send codes so give me a shout.

Sent you a Ubi Club friend request, Ginj. You need to accept before I can send the invite.

I have accepted you as a friend.

Been trying to sort out codes and the site has been playing up. I'll try tomorrow. Yeah I have another Papa. I've sent you a Ubi Club friend request you need to accept.

Edit: Ginj, invite sent. Papa, it says you already have an invite so I couldn't send one. Check your emails for the codes.

Yeah, I have it on the Xbox One, but it runs like dog shit. I wanted to see how it ran on the PS4 Pro.

No sign yet, but after reading some impressions it sounds janky as hell on PS4 too.

I'm glad about this in a way because March is going to be full of new games anyway with Zelda, Horizon and Mass Effect.

This sounds like one for the summer when it's down to £20 and has been patched to hell.

You can only be on it one platform, Papa.

Code should have been sent after 30 minutes. Check your spam and whatever email your uplay and psn accounts use.

I played the turorial and it did seem a little stuttery in places. I'll post more after I spend more time on it. I won't be getting it until late April earliest with Zelda, Mass Effect and South Park in March.

I solo'ed all the content over the weekend. It's pretty good, but repetitive as fuck. At its best it really does feel like a Ghost Recon game. One hit kills. Slow, tactical progress through areas. Guns feel nice and powerful. The drone is handy as hell.

At its worst, that feeling of donkey chasing carrot sets in when you realise you are just doing the same thing over, and over. In this case, tearing shit up till area boss surfaces.

Ubi must have shat it a bit when they saw the criticism Mafia 3 got a few months back, cos this is exactly the same gameplay loop as that, though from what I saw in the beta, Mafia 3 at least had good characters and writing.

I played a decent chunk of it over the weekend. It looks great on a Pro in 4k (or whatever resolution they used) and HDR. As said elsewhere it is very much a Ubisoft open world game, i.e clearing map icons. It feels somewhere between the Division and Far Cry to me: a pretty dull open world with poor story and characters and enemy outposts you can take down however you like.

Character movement and driving felt heavy, and it was crying out for a proper cover system. When you get into combat it is quite good and thankfully no bullet sponges, although it seemed the game wants you to play it stealthily.

Each of the bits I played were quite similar in flow: collect intel>drive to map location> scout with drone > try the stealthy approach > AI fucks up > messy vehicle escape. I can see it getting dull quite quickly, but has the makings of a good co op game. One to pick up for £20 in the summer drought or if you plan to go through it with mates in co op.

Tl, dr; standard Ubi open world probably best in co op but very pretty looking.

Yeah, co-op for me would be the only way to go with this.

I've seen loads of complaints about the AI and vehicle handling.

More time to sink into Zelda et al for me so no complaints. Still want Resi 7 too so it'll probably be a July/August purchase if at all.
