I have a £800 budget, what can you build me?

2 of them!?! You're possibly insane.

You only need 18,686 more and you could start to build one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan_(supercomputer)

Think how smooth the action will be when you click on the deck of cards. It'll run at least 60fps. AT LEAST!

TechRadar rating - 4.5/5 For

  • The fastest single GPU card out
  • Clever power and heat management system
  • 6GB of GDDR5
Against
  • Very expensive
  • Some older dual-GPU cards have it beat

When it's obsolete in 6 months and you buy a new card, can I buy it off you for £50?

You guys don't really think I bought those do you?

They are MASSIVELY overpriced, and I aint that crazy (or rich). They were bought by a guy on RLLMUK who clearly has more money than sense.

Thinking this bundle:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-133-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2518 - Do you think it's worth paying an extra £50 for an i& package?

Also thinking this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-660Ti-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/dp/B008YINJK8/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1362256744&sr=1-3 - Do you think it's worth paying an extra £100 and getting a 680 instead?

Don't want to upgrade for another 5 years .

Those two should fit in my case with my other gubbins and see me right.

Cheers pals!

Do you play at 1080p? If so a 660ti will be fine for now - you'd be better off chucking that 100 toward a GPU upgrade in a couple of years. That processor and ram will see you through five years, but a card upgrade would definitely help.

Also, the Radeon 7950 is reckoned to be a 660ti beater by a lot of people. Factor in it's cheaper and also comes with download codes for BioShock Infinite and Crysis 3 and it's well worth considering.

If it's an Nvidia card they are manufactured in 3 factories only worldwide. Brand after that only matters about overclocking and game codes.

The 7950 has higher memory bandwidth than the 660ti, so will definitely be better at higher resolutions. XFX are a pretty known card manufacturer and the reviews are pretty much all positive.

The i7 is not worth the £80 extra. Honestly, don't go overboard right now - save that extra for a GPU upgrade in 2 or 3 years and you'll be laughing.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-133-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2518 - Do you think this is the best value i5 package? I think I want 16gig of RAM but not sure of the quality of this. There is so much out there it's a real job to sort through it all.

I think I'll be getting this with a Radeon card.

Thanks guys. It's just a lot of money and I want to get it right.

Ended up buying just compenents to save money. If I OC it, Ill do it myself later.

Also blew £380 on a graphics card, which is probably the stupidist thing I've done in a long time. I justified it by deciding to eBay my 3DS as I never play on it.

Went for a EVGA GTX 680 Supercharged 2Gig.

I'm sure by the time I need the power it will be outdated and I've wasted the money, but I'm looking forward to Far Cry 3 on Ultra running a slick 60fps lol.

I know it's overboard and I spent about £300 more than I probably needed, but whatever, It'll last me 5 years like this one has. Plus it's about the same price as a new iPad lol.

I think I remember Ant saying he had a branded 650W PSU so he should be okay, but my concern would be if it has a 6-pin PCI-E power connector and an 8 pin PCI-E power connector as a 680 needs both and whatever you do, don't use a 6 to 8 pin converter!!
