First off - Is there any chance of having this stickied Tachi? There's a few people wanting to do it, so it'll make it easier to find, and it's going to updated daily (So long as everyone sticks to it) so it'd be well worth having available.

Right, I've not got the instructions yet, but I could do with getting everyone's information first up (All those wanting to get involved). The Weight Watchers scheme works on a "points" basis, but this is based on your current weight and size, it's designed so you don't starve yourself, but equally you don't over-eat, obviously.
I know it's not too nice having to throw your weight up online for everyone to see, but hopefully that'll all change in the coming months anyway, so don't feel bad about it :)

To start off, here's mine:

Height: 6'0 (I'm not entirely sure on this, but last time I checked I was around here, I'll update if needs be)
Weight: 15 stone (95.25kg) exactly.

That's a BMI of 28.6 (I know BMI isn't all that useful, but it's an idea of where I need to be). I need to be at a BMI of 25, as currently I'm classed as overweight, so my ideal weight would be around 13.5st.
So I'll aim for there, there abouts. 1 1/2 stone to lose. (I'll work this out for everyone else, don't worry about it).

Instructions

Righto ladies, here's the deal. We'll start this next Wednesday (30/07/08) which gives everyone enough time to prepare/have a blow out/relax in time to get their fit on/fat off, and we'll use each Wednesday to weigh ourselves. It also gives people a week to jump in if they're up for it.
I'm going to set up a chart with Google docs so we can see where we stand each week, this'll make it easier to chart everyone's loss/gain without clogging up the thread too much.

Points

Okay, here's how points work (Tachi, you can ignore this here on out, as you'll be doing the Super Man Diet Plan). Firstly, take this Quiz:

Are you...
Male? (9 Points)
Female? (3 Points)

Age...
16 - 20 (5 Points)
21 - 35 (4 Points)
36 - 50 (3 Points)
51 - 65 (2 Points)
Over 65 (1 Point)

How tall are you?
Under 5'4 (1 Point)
5'4 or above (2 Points)

In your Occupation, are you:
Sitting most of the time (0 Points)
Occassionally sitting, but mainly standing (2 Points)
Walking most of the time (4 Points)
Doing physically hard work most of the time (6 Points)

Add the same number of points as the number of stones you are, for example, if you're 12 stone, add 12 points.

Now, for Idaho, in order to keep your current weight, add another 6 points, then add points on top of that in order to put the pounds on.

Everyone calculate their points and post them up, I'll update this thread with everyone's points so they're easier to find.

What are points for?

Points, basically, amounts to how much you can fill your face with each day. So how do you work out points? This formula:

C/70 + F/12 = P

That's Calories, divided by 70, plus Fat divided by 12 = Points. Simple maths. Here's an example;

Rib and Spicy Nik Naks - 141 Calories per Bag, 9.6g Fat per Bag.

141/70 + 9.6/12 = 3 (Rounded to the nearest 1/2).

This will only work if you write everything down, or at least remember to at a later date if it's inconvenient. There is a chart for basic ingredients, such as "Slice of Bread = X Points" that I'll put up before Wednesday too. If you're unsure how many points something is, ask on here and I'll tell you.

Excercise

Excercising gives you points back.

30 Minute Walk <Up to 12 1/2 Stone> - 1 Point Back
30 Minute Walk <12 1/2 to 18 Stone> - 1 1/2 Points Back
30 Minute Walk <18 Stone+> - 2 Points Back

Moderate Exercise is classed as "Excercise that makes you sweat lightly", swimming, light jog, slow bike ride etc.

30 Minutes of Moderate Exercise <9 Stone - 13 Stone> - 1 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Moderate Exercise <13 Stone - 16 1/2 Stone> - 2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Moderate Exercise <16 1/2 - 20 Stone> - 2 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Moderate Exercise <20 Stone+> - 3 Points Back

Sporty activity is classed as "Excercise that completely knackers you out", running, speed biking etc.

30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <9 1/2 - 11 Stone> - 3 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <11 - 12 1/2> - 4 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <12 1/2 - 14> - 4 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <14 - 15 1/2> - 5 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <15 1/2 - 17> - 5 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <17 - 18 1/2> - 6 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <18 1/2 - 20> - 6 1/2 Points Back
30 Minutes of Sporty Excercise <20 - 21> - 7 Points Back
Each stone after this increases points back by 1/2

Now clearly this is a lot of information. The best way to do it is to practise for this week in the run up to Wednesday. Write down everything you're eating each day, honestly. If you're eating out, or at work, keep hold of the packets and work out the points when you get back. Factor in walking to work as part of your daily excercise and take that off your daily points. You'll soon start knowing the "points" of food instinctively, it really doesn't take long at all. Even if, when doing it properly next week, you work out the points once you get back home, you can see if you need to do a bit of exercise to put you back down a few points or not. Easy peasy.

Tips

This is, effectively, how to prepare for a night out. Each day, you can save 4 points. You can save more than that (But never go under 14 points, this is unhealthy) but it won't count in the long run. You can then use those points towards a drinking session. So if you save 4 points on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, then go out on Saturday, you'll have 20 points to booze it up with. Here's the drinking chart (I know this is what most of you are concerned about):

Shots = 1 Point
1 Pint Lager = 2 Points
1 Pint Bitter = 3 Points
1 Pint Cider = 3 Points
Diet Coke (Can) = 0 Points
Coke (Can) = 1 Point
Wine (Medium Glass) = 2 Points

Exercising for 30 minutes or so on the day you're going to binge it is generally a good idea, as well as saving points, because you don't really have to think about it as much. Just watch out for the Take Aways :P

And don't worry about fucking up and going over. The points quiz above is designed so that you'll be losing weight if you stick to it. Going over doesn't necessarily mean you'll put on weight, but it's clearly not a great idea.

Anyway, those are the general rules, everyone post up your points after taking the quiz.

=========

Some basic points I can remember off-hand:

1 Slice of White Bread = 1 point
Margarine (Spread on this particular white bread) = 1/2 point (DO NOT USE BUTTER, FOOLS)
1 Slice of Brown Bread = 1/2 Point
Cheese (Generally thin slices of Mature Cheddar, enough to fill a sandwich) = 4 points

Add 1 point for Milk in your Tea/Coffee (There's no real way of measuring this, they just say "1 point per day" to be safe)
1 point for sugar in your Tea/Coffee

I'll add more when I find them.

Your BMI is around 24.5, which is inside the "Normal Weight" ratio, but on the cusp of "Overweight". If you lost half a stone you'd be smack bang in the middle of a healthy weight I reckon. Depends how much muscle you're packing though. You wouldn't want to go any lower than 10.5 stone, otherwise you'd be classed as underweight, let's put it that way.

That's easy enough dude, I can work out your points using the Weight Watchers thing, and you just try and eat over that. If it works one way, it should certainly work the other way!

6'2"
14 stone 11lb (although I did have a big poo after weighing)
Target loss - 1 Stone

Will do my own diet thingy though if that's ok, I lost quite a bit of weight with it last time, so confident I can lose more again. This time I just have to stop buying pizza's!

I will start on Monday, I can get weighed every Wednesday in work.

That's not problem, I'll still put the Weight Watchers info up for everyone else though, as it's good for people who've never really lost weight before and need to keep track of it. It's good to do in a group too. It'll be a weekly weigh in, so each Wednesday is good enough :)

Its strange that you've all decided to do this now, as I've been on a health fuck thing all week, and as of 2 days ago had lost 4lb in under 3 days. I'm not sure what I am now, but I'll do some weighing and some measuring  when I get home, so you can BMI me baby!!

23.89, which is classed as healthy. Over 25 is Overweight, under 18 is underweight. It's up to you, you could take a run at 1 stone if you fancy? That's put you at 21.93 which is as healthy a weight as you could be really.

You don't have to give up anything really, I'll explain more once the missus get back. The rules and such like should be up about 7pm tonight. The whole idea is it's points based, so you'll have a certain amount of points you can use per day depending on your weight/height. You get points back for exercise and, obviously, lose points for eating whatever based on calories etc. It's dead easy to do, you just have to make sure you write everything down so you don't forget. And be honest!
Friday's are going to be hardest for me. That's my binge drinking night!
