I'm stealing an idea from Eurogamer because I'm bored. What games have you missed that are supposed to be excellent and are talked about with reverence far and wide? Can be from any gen and any platform, and also anything you played a tiny bit of.

I have never had a Sony console that was 'current' until PS4 so I've missed many exclusives. Ico and SotC are high on my list. Also Resident Evil 2, which I hope to remedy soon via a Vita download. I'm also too scared of getting frustrated to have tried any Souls game.

Let me read of your gaming shame.

Pretty much any PS exclusive, Last of Us, Uncharted. And all Mario games.

I find that if I ever get round to playing stuff I never had the chance to play with N64-era and before sort of games, as a rule of them if they were 2D I'll probably like them, if they were 3D it's a coin flip if I do.

For example: Didn't like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 7. Did like Majora's Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Resident Evil.

2D stuff like FF6 and Chrono Trigger I loved.

I think the most obvious stuff on my never played it list these days is Shenmue, any Civ game, any WarCraft game, Metal Gear Solid, GTA3/Vice City. Resi 4 technically, I tried playing it a few times but never get very far before getting bored.

Still to play Last of Us, properly play Shenmue, and any FF outside of 7/10.

Generally late to console parties as well. The only thing I've gotten on release for an age is TLG. Everything else is sale/PSN, so I've missed a few beauties I'm sure.

Pretty much all Sony exclusives from this gen that I'm a bit gutted about. Also sorry I missed the boat with Battlefield 1

The main franchise I'm sorry I missed though is Metal Gear. Just never got into it but I watched my mate play 2 when I was at uni. They're the kind of games I should love so I'm sorry they never clicked for me.

Destiny was a late itch that I'm glad I scratched though.

Oh man, me too with MGS. Never really saw the pull. I tried 3, and just got confused. I also kinda feel bad for starting in the middle of a series, which never works out well in this day and age of game franchises :(.

I never owned a PS1 or N64, so most of the games on those consoles.

I had an N64, but I never had enough money to pay for all the games. I just ended up playing Turok all the time.

I'm tempted to at least try MGS1 at some point. The rest don't appeal to me, especially 4: the idea of watching a 90 minute cutscene written by Kojima is already boring me.

I enjoyed the Twin Snakes remake of MGS1 on GC. Maybe try that? It has some modernised mechanics that I thought made it more fun to play. The original is still good though, particularly on Vita.

But it's got Dick van Dyke as Snake. Between missions he solves murders in a US hospital.

Captain Birdseye was a paedophile. "Now son, do you want some of my special cod?"
