Game of 2016 for me has to be DOOM with GOW4 just behind. DOOM was pure FPS porn, only way I can describe it. Just couldn't get enough of it, loved the power ups, rediculous weapons and the way you could find yourself literally back to the wall being swarmed by all sorts of fuck off gurt demons and you get the mini-gun out, switch to secondary and 4 bloody barrels pop up and you smoke the bloody lot. Awesome!!

It's old-school gaming updated for today. Not much thinking needed just loads of baddies and guns with bit of hook as you upgrade your gear A true modern classic if you ask me.

Stardew valley or world of final fantasy, both amazing games but let down at the end.

Elaborate boys! Make your decision and justify it, it's an internet poll and therefor it's important as it's the truth!

It's between Titanfall 2 and Uncharted 4 for me.

TF2 edges it for being a more complete package, awesome MP and a short but oh so sweet campaign.

World of Final Fantasy

Probably the last proper turn based FF game that will ever exist now everyones attention span has been eroded by FaceBook and 30 seconds news clips. Beautiful graphics without relying on "MOAR 'SPLOSIONS!", deceptively deep battle mechanics and enough fan service (of the "nod to" rather than the "flashing knickers" variety) to make any FF fans heart melt.

Lost its pacing near the end though where it became a case of either over leveling or resetting the fights until you got lucky.

Stardew Valley

Take all that was good about Harvest Moon, add a sprinkling of Animal Crossing add a dash of Zelda and throw in some jokes about girls looking for a sea cucumber or octopus "you know why" while making you wonder if you should bat for the other side and marry that Fabio looking dude who lives in the shack on the beach because he's just such a gorgeous man.

Some dodgy controller issues spoil the fun somewhat, and there's no real end game short of making bazillions of gold farming ancient fruit, but the fact you can marry almost anyone and they all have their own lives and personalities, topped with some great farming mechanics and the most consistent SNES-tastic graphics make it a winner.

'Tales from the Borderlands' was a lot of fun for a game "I completed this year", even if it wasn't out this year.

'Witcher 3: Blood and Wine' was also fantastic, but DLC. It was such a finely crafted piece of game though! I liked it a lot more than the base game.

I think though, that it's really been 'Pokemon Moon' that's stood out for me. It's been a shitty, shitty year in general, so to have something like this come along that's just bursting with colour, and brightness and fun that is also a really great re-invention of a game series that's been pretty stale for years has sold it for me.

Has to be overwatch for me. Completely suckered in to it. Love the style, the gameplay. It's just so well thought out and there's been a ton of content thrown at it since launch that hasn't cost me a penny!

I'm with Bummers, 'twas Doom for me too. That it merged modern gaming with old Doom and made it feel like Doom was astonishing. Carnage, fast fun carnage with challenges, collectibles, skill tree for the weapons... so much goodness. Easy winner for me.
